Real Life Applications of Our Facilities Team:

Emergency Response & Fire Watch

In 2021, a critical operations facility of over 198,000 square feet experienced a mechanical fire pump failure. Lundy quickly coordinated the deployment of a pumper truck and performed around-the-clock emergency fire watch and inspection for 72 hours, ensuring the facility could continue operations without interruption.

Providing Solutions for Compliance

The Lundy Engineering team with extensive HVAC expertise played a crucial role in redesigning an unpermitted clean room to meet current compliance standards, including the integration of redundant systems. A new HVAC system was installed, while Lundy suggested keeping the existing HVAC system as back-up. This approach resulted in cost savings of $63,500 on equipment alone to the owner.

Response to Security Threats

Security is a part of managing a property. When an armed man tried to force his way into an LMG-managed building, the facility was immediately put on lockdown. LMG responded by securing the site after the police resolved the situation, repairing the damaged door and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.

The Engineering Advantage

The institutional and human resource knowledge held throughout our engineering team allows for the critical expertise vital to our clients’ success.

  • Regular inspection and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Ensuring proper air quality and filtration in patient rooms, surgical areas, and clean rooms. Calibrating and maintaining temperature and humidity controls for operating rooms, labs, and pharmacy facilities.

  • Inspection and maintenance of medical gas systems (e.g., oxygen, nitrous oxide). Ensuring the integrity of backflow preventers and water purification systems. Regular checks and maintenance of emergency eyewash stations and showers.

  • Routine inspection of electrical systems, including emergency power generators. Maintenance of critical systems for inpatient and outpatient facilities, ensuring uninterrupted power supply. Regular testing of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems for sensitive equipment.

  • Regular maintenance and inspection of chillers used in HVAC systems. Monitoring and managing the cooling systems critical for operating rooms, linear accelerators, and imaging equipment. Ensuring chillers are operating efficiently to maintain required temperatures in clean rooms and pharmacy facilities.

  • Monitoring and optimizing energy usage to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Implementing energy-saving initiatives, such as upgrading to LED lighting or installing energy-efficient HVAC systems.

  • Coordination with radiation oncology staff to ensure the proper functioning of linear accelerators. Routine checks on cooling systems associated with linear accelerators. Maintenance of power supply systems dedicated to linear accelerators.

  • Regular monitoring and maintenance of air filtration systems to ensure clean rooms meet required standards. Ensuring temperature, humidity, and pressure controls are functioning properly. Regular inspection of surfaces and systems to prevent contamination.

  • Monitoring and managing BAS to ensure optimal performance of different areas, such as inpatient and outpatient facilities. Troubleshooting and repairing BAS components as needed.

  • Regular testing and maintenance of fire alarms, smoke detectors, and sprinkler systems. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations in all patient care areas. Coordination with safety officers to conduct fire drills and ensure all safety equipment is functioning properly.

  • Maintenance and regular testing of security systems, including cameras, access control, and alarm systems. Ensuring security systems are integrated with BAS for enhanced monitoring & control.
